Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Advanced Clinician – Podiatry / Foot Protection Service

The Advanced Clinician in Podiatry is responsible for providing the clinical leaderships of the podiatry service and foot protection service.

This leadership role is pivotal to ensuring the quality and effectiveness of the Taranaki Foot Protection Service. This includes having a strong focus on equity, improving foot health outcomes, system performance and clinical quality. The role will require sector leadership, strong evidence based clinical practice and high levels of initiative and relationship development across the diabetes workforce.

This role works collaboratively as part of a collective of health providers in the Taranaki region who are committed to improving health outcomes and health equity for people living with diabetes (PWD) and their support people/whanau. The role also works as part of the Diabetes Integrated team (DIT) of which this teams’ functions are to provide:

  • Comprehensive Clinical & Psychosocial Intervention - Providing clinical expertise and psychosocial support to directly manage patients with diabetes with the aim of discharging them back to primary care as appropriate.

  • Enhancement & Capability Support - Provide support, education and training for both health professionals and patients, guided by the needs of primary care and Māori providers, to ensure patients with diabetes receive high quality and consistent clinical care and health information.

In this exciting leadership opportunity, you will be expected to:

  • Provide leadership and direction across the podiatry and foot protection service.

  • Ensure optimum service delivery, systems and use of resources.

  • Drive delivery of high-quality patient care and customer service to both internal and external customers.

  • Strive to eliminate health inequalities and achieve health equity for the Taranaki population.

  • Demonstrate previous leadership experience with minimum 6 years clinical experience including management of diabetic population and clinical leadership.

We have up to 1.4FTE available and encourage applicants, even those that may not meet all the criteria, to apply for consideration.
